Bereavement

Winston's Wish is the UK's childhood bereavement charity.
They support children and their families after the death of a parent or sibling.

Child Bereavement UK supports families and educates professionals when a baby or child of any age dies or is dying, or when a child is facing bereavement.

Rainbows

Rainbows is a Group that we run in school for Children and Young People who have suffered loss either as a result of bereavement or divorce.

It is an opportunity where these pupils can meet once a week in a safe place with a trained facilitator present,  usually meeting in our School Chapel.  We work through the different stages of grief - leading to acceptance of the life changing event that has occurred.   During this time as the pupils begin to trust and become more comfortable with each other, they tend to open up more and through talking (group discussions), playing games and art work they work towards the healing of their pain. Friendships are formed.  The sessions run over several weeks culminating in a school trip/or other celebration event for all participants on our ‘Celebrate Me Day’ (the final session).

Pupils in Years 7, 8 and 9 would be together in one Group.   Pupils in Years 10 and 11 would be in another Group.

If you feel your son/daughter would benefit from this onsite service please speak to your child’s Form Tutor or Year Leader for them to arrange a referral.

You can always report any wellbeing concerns in school using this form.
