Welcome to St. Augustine's

Dear Parents and Carers,

On behalf of all the staff I would like to extend a warm welcome to you and your child. We believe that education is a partnership between home, school and parish and are committed to working closely with you to support your child’s academic, spiritual and personal growth.

Starting secondary school is a significant milestone. Please be assured that we are here to guide and support your child every step of the way. Our dedicated staff are committed to creating a safe, inclusive learning environment where all pupils can flourish.

Our aim is to make the next five years an enjoyable and positive learning experience for each child. We will always encourage your child to do their best in a Christian and well-disciplined environment. At St. Augustine’s we are always proud of the students who leave us at the end of Year 11, well prepared for further education or the world of work.

This booklet is designed to provide you with key information about the transition process, daily routines and the many opportunities that await your child at St. Augustine’s. We look forward to welcoming your family into our school community and seeing your child grow in confidence, faith and knowledge over the next five years.

Mrs Claire Hunt – Headteacher

Hello Year Six!

I am Mrs Grove and I will be your Year Leader during your time at St Augustine's. Congratulations on gaining a place at our fantastic school. We cannot wait to have you join us in September! I have worked at St Augustine's for over a decade so I am here to help with any questions you might have along with your Form Tutor.

I am looking forward to meeting you all and it has been lovely to already meet some of you whilst visiting your primary schools to tell you about what life at St Augustine's will be like.

I am sure a lot of you have mixed feels about what will happen on your first day in September but it will be a great day. You will spend time with your form and go to some lessons. You will also have an early lunch so we can show you how to get food and where you need to go.  All you need to bring on your first day is your bag to take books home in and your pencil case.  At the end of the day we will also show you how to get home on the school bus so you know where you are going.

Please make the most of attending our school. Get involved in as much as possible so you can have many aspects of school that you enjoy. Be prepared to work hard and to be successful, as well as making new friends and being kind to all members of our school community.

Enjoy a restful summer holidays when it arrives and make sure you are looking smart in your uniform for September.

I’m looking forward to welcoming you all.

Mrs Grove – Year 7 Leader
