Transition 2020 - 21

Unfortunately due to the ongoing COVID situation, it is looking very unlikely we will be able to carry out our normal transition programme.  We have therefore created a special area on the website for you to have a look at to familiarise yourself with St Augustine's before you attend.

If the situation changes we will inform you of any upcoming transition plans.

In the meantime we will do everything we can to make your child's transition from primary school to high school as smooth as possible given the current situation.

Our current Year 7's have prepared some advice for new starters in September - you can view the videos here.

Your St Augustine's Journey Starts Here.MWRIGHT

Dear future pupil!

Congratulations on being offered a place at St. Augustine’s.

Moving to high school is always an exciting time and sometimes it can be a bit worrying too. This year, due to school closure because of the Coronavirus, we are having to change the way that we welcome you to our school.

However, in the next few months we will do our best to make your move to St. Augustine’s as easy as possible.
Normally we would be inviting you to a New Intake Day in June when you would have experienced some lessons at St. Augustine’s, met some new friends and started to get to know your way around school. You would have eaten in the canteen and seen some of our other facilities. We would also be planning our New Intake Mass and New Intake Evening for parents when you would also find out who your Form teacher for next year is and who else is in your form.

At the moment we do not know if or when any of these events will take place so we are making plans for a “Virtual Intake Day” with video clips to introduce you to the school, explanations of how the school day works and, hopefully, some videos by our current Year 7 pupils on how they found the move from primary school to high school.

This area on the website features all the information you may need about coming to St Augustine's. We are also already in contact with your school about how you are doing in your lessons, what your strengths are and any areas where you need help. While there will be no Key Stage 2 test results this year, we are confident that your Year 6 teacher can give us all the information that we need for you to make an excellent start at St Augustine’s.

We will keep you and your family informed as we receive any news about whether we are able to have pupils in school before September.

Mr M Wright

LKODear pupils,

Welcome to St. Augustine’s. We hope you are looking forward to starting high school in September. Although it is a large school, you will quickly learn to find your way around. You will enjoy making new friends and getting to know your teachers and the other pupils in your form or class. In September, you will also find out about all the extra activities you can do at lunch times and after school. Taking part in some of these clubs will help you to make new friends and to settle quickly.

As you will be aware, we are unable to carry out our normal transition programme - so eveything that you might want to know about coming to St Augustine's can be found on this page.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all in September.

Mrs Lowe, Year 7 Leader.
